23rd February Nothing is hidden Nobody among us would appreciate it if our circle of friends would know exactly everything what we do, say or think during each day of our lives. What a shame if our most miserable secrets would be revealed and displayed on the great day! Yet everything what happens in us, what we express and do, is known by him whose estimate should be more important to us than the estimate of our friends and our fellow men. One day we will have to give account of all of our existence which was attributed to us. This perfect knowledge which God has, filled the author of Psalm 139 with perplexity: "Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?" However, this anxiety can be changed into matchless joy. It is like this when man is conscient that he is a sinner and when he confesses it uprightly in front of God. Man then is in agreement with Him and he takes in the place which suits him so that God can reveal himself to him as the God of grace and forgiveness, the God who saves. This believer says: "How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Lead me in the way everlasting (Psalm 139, 17, 23 & 24). From now on he can advance step by step in the way of eternity and be sure of the help of his God. |
