So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55, 11
A voice from heaven
The evangelist Spurgeon was invited to preach at the "Crystal Palace" of London wanted to be sure that his voice would be loud enough for this vast hall. He decided to try his voice and he went to that hall with his friend the previous day. This friend sat at the last row at the back of the hall. From the platform he announced with a loud voice following scripture: "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners" (1 Timothy 1, 15). He repeated the same verse without forcing his voice. His friend made a sign to him that the acoustic was good. He went home reassured.
25 years later a very ill man asks to see a pastor. This pastor was Spurgeon. The evangelist asked him: "Are you prepared to meet God?" The dieing man answered: "Yes, I am not afraid; Jesus is my Saviour". Spurgeon asked: "How did you find salvation for your soul?" He answered: "In a special way: As I was a plumber 25 years ago I had to repair something under the dome of the Crystal Palace. At that time I was living without God. Suddenly, I heard a voice from heaven twice saying: "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners". These words reached my conscience and my heart so strong that on the same day I turned to the Lord Jesus Christ".
