Today's society is characterized by the search for easy leisure. We could have following slogan: No constraints, do whatever you want to do.

A pleasure on a big wheel

26th November

Jesus replied: "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." John 8, 34 & 36

For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. 2 Corinthians 5, 14 & 15

Pleasing ourselves

Sexual immorality and practices against nature are now accepted and sometimes even encouraged. On the whole they are openly recognized and considered as a release in regard to the whole fulfillment of the personality. What was practiced in secret during centuries and which brought forth shame and self reproaches now is admitted without complexes. We come to the stage where evil is called good. It is the whole overthrow of values which invade our society.

God himself does not change. What was evil at the aera of Sodom still is evil today and will be evil tomorrow. We often don't admit that we sin and this is added to the committed sins. For a moment of leisure we play with our eternity. The more we do what is evil the more we sink into sin. We get used to it and our conscience reacts less and less.

Jesus said: "Everyone who sins is a slave to sin" (John 8, 34). Felix Le Dantec, the French biologist wrote about 100 years ago: "Man is a conscient puppet who has the illusion of freedom."

There is only one who can give real freedom: Jesus Christ.
