Only one life to live

In his letter, James asks this question: "What is your life?" He answers himself: You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes (4, 14). Often we can regret the lost time, but we cannot start any moment of our existence again.

We only have one life to live on earth. This is a capital which we might have already wasted a lot, and which continues, if we want it or not, to slip in our hands. Life is not to pursue or dreams or to be careless. Life is only fully lived with and for God, when we are sure of forgiveness of our sins and when we have a deep joy in our heart. This is real life.

Many of our contemporaries are restless and we understand them; they don't have any hope nor any certainty about the future. Let us look around ourselves. There are several who live in a nightmare about a nuclear destruction of our civilization. Jesus spoke about the times which are coming quickly "on earth nations will be in anguish... men will faint from terror." (Luke 21, 25 & 26)

Let us think about our future life after death. Where will we be? Let us accept today God's forgiveness and everlasting life which he offers.
