Do not touch

When an ill person takes medical advice, the doctor starts to question and to examine him before prescribing treatment. He touches the body in various places and the ill person does not say anything until the finger is placed on a susceptible point. Then the patient screams: "Do not touch anymore, you hurt me!"

This is what happens when we touch the conscience. As long as we discuss about the evil which reigns in the world, about the utility of having a religion, about the existence of God, everything is well; on the whole people agree. However, when we start to speak about the necessity of personal repentance we touch the susceptible point, we provoke this scream: "Do not touch!"

We are not born as Christians. We do not become Christians by getting christened. We become a Christian when we receive Jesus, the Son of God, as our personal Saviour in our heart, after recognizing that we are guilty in front of Him.

This is the susceptible point: if we speak to you about the evil and the injustice which reigns in the world, then you surely agree, but when we suggest that you also you are a sinner who deserves God's condemnation, then you will react. The Bible declares: "All have sinned;" (Romans 3, 23)

What is the cure? God forgives him who repents and who believes in the Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ.
