The serpent said to the woman: "Did God really say?" Genesis 3, 1

The devil is a liar and the father of lies. John 8, 44

Satan's lies

Since this day he drags the descendants of Adam & Eve from lie to lie into a way which moves them more and more away from God.

To the young people he says: "It is to early to turn towards God. First of all you have to make your life, find a job and take advantage of your youth."

He suggests to the old people: "It is to late. You have left the opportunity to serve God go past, you neither have enough strength anymore nor any abilities."

To some he says: "God is to good to punish you. On the other hand your life has been honest and you have not done evil to anybody. Don't worry, in the end everything will go well because God is love."

To others he says the contrary: "You are not good enough to follow Jesus. God is demanding, first of all you need to improve yourself."

To others he says: "Salvation which is offered to you is to easy, to simple to be true. It would be to nice if it would be enough to acknowledge that one is a sinner and to believe in Jesus to be saved."

By these means Satan handles the lie according to the persons he wants to deceive. He knows that he himself is lost and his goal is to let the others be lost with him.

What is our resource? Let us listen to God's voice by reading his word and answer Satan as Jesus did: "It is written." (Luke 4, 4)
