He (the son of God) was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognise him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1, 10 - 12

Our only right

A noisy train of demonstrators which bristles up notices comes into the road. Never before have men insisted so much on their rights or what they call their rights as they do nowadays. From every corner demands are made in all kinds of categories. It is not our job to discuss about their merits.

The Christian who wishes to honour his master should not participate in these protests because he lives according to following precept: "Fear the Lord and the king, my son, and do not join with the rebellious." (Proverbs 24, 21) In the midst of people who insist on their rights the Christian should realize that he does not have any rights in this world because his master did not claim anything. In advance it was said about Jesus: "He willl not quarrel nor cry out; no-one will hear his voice in the streets." (Matthew 12, 19) "He was in the world, and the world was made through him." (John 1, 10)

Immediately the evangelist adds: "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." (John 1, 12) The right to be a child of God is a very precious right. It is the only right that God gives to the believer and nobody can deprive it from the believer.
