2nd April Musical break Whether we are conscient or not we are continually watched by a God who is wise and almighty. Nothing goes past his attention. He can use everything (the evil and the good) to work together for the good of his children. This does not only give us big confidence but it also permits us to thank God even if we don't understand the reasons why he is doing what he does. In one of his books the American author A. Pierson develops the truth of Romans 8, 28: "God's plan does not forget anything. Everything works together for good, even the trials which make us impatient. Storms which threaten to uproot trees root them even more and deeper into the earth. One could believe that when steel is beaten it is broken, but instead it is tempered which makes it more solid and more resistant. A forced rest through illness or unemployment has been compared with a music break. The space between two notes is not the end of the music piece but it is a part of it." Does the way seem dark? Don't let us forget that if we love the Lord all things - including the most unpleasant things - work together for our good (Romans 8, 28). |
