And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. Matthew 6, 28 & 29

Marvels of creation

What a pity if we do not notice such nice "small things" which God has created! The daisies in the meadow, a dragonfly with transparent wings, the enchantment of sunset or the silent beauty of fleecy clouds. Somebody called these things "small extras of our Creator".

When Jesus explained to his disciples "that life was more than food and that body was more than clothes" (Matthew 6, 25), he drew their attention to the lilies. Jesus made them notice that the God who clothes the flowers with beauty is also the Father who takes care of his children with an everlasting love. He provides all their needs.

Can we stop a moment and observe some of the marvels which are around us? Let us gaze at the stars and let us listen to the wind of the branches. Let us observe the flight of a sparrow and let us breath the violet or the lily. Let us notice the small details of a petal or a blade of grass.

Is it not important to know that somebody controls our existence? We can be assured when realizing that God not only filled the universe with "small extras" but that he is interested in everyone of us with an infinite tenderness. We can trust God who is capable of such nice works. We realize that he deserves or obedience and our worship.
