12th May I know, O Lord, that a man's life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps. Jeremiah 10, 23 Your Father knows At dawn two additional helicopters were sent. Very soon the pilotes saw ski traces. One resque squad on the ground followed these traces. These traces led to footprints in the snow. These footprints led to a tree where the child was found safe and sound. By radio the responsible sergeant of resque announced: "Clément is well. In fact he is in a better form than us at the moment." The sergeant explained how the boy was well in spite of the cold weather. His father had explained to him before what to do if ever he should get lost. Clément did exactly what his father had told him. He protected himself from the cold and snow by climbing up on to a tree to huddle in a corner of branches. Clément shows us what we should do as children of a heavenly Father who is full of love and wisdom: obey his commandments. He knows what is the best for us for today. In a world with a lot of traps and confusing voices it is our happiness and security to trust in his invariable love. The Bible maintains that it is impossible for man to control his life by himself. The Bible alone is a light which enlightens our way. This light shines ever brighter till the full light of day (Proverbs 4, 18). |
