The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven. And just as we have been borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven. 1 Corinthians 15, 47 & 49

27th September The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 1 Corinthians 12, 12 The Church is a spiritual body Science supposes that the universe was formed by a fascinating process. It believes that substances were worked out and that they became more and more complicated. First of all there would have been atoms, then molecules and in the end galaxies, stars and planets. So bioligical life and soon after mental life would have appeared as a summary of the organization. This scientific vision of things can certainly be questioned, however it rather matches the first page of the Bible. God made the world in steps and in order. Creation went from substances to biology and from biology to spirit. Man is the top of creation; man was created in God's image. However, the Bible does not stop here. After man it presents the second man sent from heaven, Jesus Christ. God gave him authority over everything. As the boss of a new creation Christ does not remain alone. He is associated with the believers who receive God's life. He builds a spiritual body, the Church. Church is a harmonious entirety united by the Holy Spirit. It's vocation is to reflect God's glory. Let us lift up our eyes and gaze at God's projects. He desires to unite Jesus who is glorified with all the believers like husband and wife. The believers will also soon be glorified. Heaven and earth will pass by - the whole world of substances - but what is invisible will remain for ever. |
