an old and dilapidated house

5th November

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36, 26

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5, 17

Unnecessary to be repared?

While the offered price was interesting the brave man decided to accept the offer. He even accepted to make an effort to repare what could be repared. Without delay he spent money and got to work to strengthen the loose stairs, to put some new tiles on the roof, to adjust doors and windows and to replace broken window panes. After accomplishing this work he would go to an old people's home.

As soon as the contract was signed and the money was payed in the new owner let the old house get razed to the ground. He only was interested in the site to build a new house.

Does God not proceed in the same way? He does not need our reparations. He is not interested in our testimony of our misery in earlier life. Jesus Christ redeems us with our past through his death on the cross. He washes out everything definitely: failures, deceptions, memories of which we are ashamed. We should not try to make our old personality more presentable. We should not try to improve in the eyes of God. Let us surrender our lives to him without hiding anything. Yes, let us give him the keys so that he can restore our life according to his plans. He wants to have a residence which is worthy of him.
