6 tips to read the Bible
1. Pray before opening your Bible :To understand the Bible, you need the help of the Holy Spirit.
2. Read your Bible carefully. : Underline the promises it gives you; the orders it gives you and the teachings which seem new to you.
3. Read your Bible regularly : Feed your soul with God's word every day. Remember that Jesus himself said: "Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." (Matthew 4, 4)
4. Start by reading the gosples (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) : Don't stop because of what you don't understand immediately. God's revelation is very often progressive. He does not tell us everything at once. It is normal that the Bible contains mysteries which go beyond our understanding, because it is God's word.
5. Look for Jesus in your Bible : It has been given to us to get into a relationship with God by Jesus Christ. He is the central and essential theme of the Bible. The Old Testament was written to prepare his coming. The New Testament certifies the fact that he came.
6. Obey the message of the Bible : Every rebelliousness, every disobedience to what the Bible orders is sin. When it dictates an attitude, a behaviour, a way of life, we have to obey. Our submission to the Bible honours whim who wrote it.
