Where does evil come from?

The Bible teaches us about evil. It characterizes it, it states it, it reveals it in all it's ugliness so that we should be disgusted by evil.

This is why history of humanity is so dark and sad. God wants us to be conscient of all the misery we have fallen into. The accounts of horrible things which men have done should open our eyes.

First of all the Bible shows us the origin of evil. It is in Satan. After it says that evil entered into man after his disobedience towards God and evil passes on from generation to generation. We are a genetic part of Adam's heritage.

According to the Bible "sin" is the principle of evil and "sins" are the evil acts. However, the Bible never confuses the principle and the acts. Jesus declares: "For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander" (Matthew 15, 19). He confirms that a tree is recognized by its fruit (Matthew 7, 20).
