6th May

He will not let your foot slip - he who watches over you will not slumber. The Lord watches over you - the Lord is your shade at your right hand. The Lord will keep you from all harm - he will watch over your life. Psalm 121, 3, 5 & 7

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8, 28

Luck does not exist

Luck and chance are words which show human ignorance and they represent whether conscient or not the refusal to admit God's intervening in daily life. Attributing such a happy event to a simple coincidence of circumstances leads to not seeing a reason to thank God. Thinking that a problem or even a calamity comes from bad luck ends up in excluding God in what happens with us and refusing to believe his promises. Admitting that a test or difficulty arises without God being concerned leads to denying his power, his love, his wisdom and his faithfulness.

There is no luck for the believer. God leads everything. "Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it?" (Lamentations 3, 37). "This is what the Lord says: Do not go up to fight against your brothers, the Israelites. Go home, every one of you, for this is my doing" (1 Kings 12, 24).

We should not forget that each hair on our head is counted by him who watches over us (Matthew 10, 30). He also counts our steps (Job 14, 16), our going and coming (Psalm 56, 8). He will not let our foot slip and he who watches over us will not slumber (Psalm 121, 3).

What a rest of spirit for the believer! No luck, everything comes from God who loves and who works for the good of them who love him. God never deceives himself.
