For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him. ... My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Which are our spiritual values?

At the end of the 20th century, in which science and technology made astonishing great strides, we attend, somewhat surprised, to a return to the spiritual concerns. The materialism has shown its limits, and many are thirsty for other things. The meditation in all its forms, yoga, without speaking about New Age, are the eloquent proof. One seeks for an experience which will give a direction to life.

Certain Christians also strongly put the accent on experiences. They think that experience is a source of revelation in addition to the Bible. This tendency is dangerous, because it amounts to placing ones confidence in man, instead of putting it into God. However, any Christian must lean on God and his Word.

To know Jesus, I must be centered on the revelation which the Father gives of the Son by the Holy Spirit in the Bible. I must be be suspicious about dreams, voices and visions.

To strengthen my convictions, I will draw at the source, in the Word of God which produces faith, and I will not trust the often illusory and fugitive human emotions.

To be sure of my salvation and to grow spiritually, I must firmly remain attached to the Lord. I have all fully in him. The Holy Spirit untiringly tends to center my thoughts, not on an experience or my feelings, but on Jesus.
