In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. Hebrews 1, 1 & 2

Great divisions in human history

The flood, at the time of Noah, marks the end of a first period. The call of Abraham and God's choice of the people of Israel dominate the second, especially characterized by the revelation of the divine will in the law of Moses and by the relation established between the Lord and Israel, his nation on earth. The disobedience of this nation forced the Lord to be separated from it for some time.This introduces the third great division of history: it is the government placed into the hands of the nations and the succession of the great empires of the Mediterranean basin: Chaldean, Persian, Greek and Roman. The birth of Christ, his death and resurrection open a fourth period: the time of the Church in which we are still today and which will end when it will be removed. The period of apocalyptic judgements will finally preceed the era of universal blessing which one can also call the Messianic era. Jesus Christ himself will take the direction of the universal kingdom then to ensure peace and prosperity on earth to which everybody aspires, but which can only be obtained under his autority.
