3rd July But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash. Matthew 7, 26 & 27 The chapel covered by sand During numerous years fishers from the neighbourhood regularly visited this church. They took care that the way which led there was always free from sand. As time went on, the interest of the population weakened. They stopped going to the small prayer house which stayed closed. When storms came from the sea they lifted up swirl sand so that the chapel ended up by being completely covered by sand. Today it's exact place is not known anymore. |
There are a lot of people who in their youth declared that they belong to the Lord Jesus Christ. As time went on they got carried away by all the temptations which the world offers. Nowadays we do not even know if they are Christians or not! Without having denied it officially, they are not attached to Christ to follow him. The sand has suffocated them by egoisme and their interest for their own things rather than the things of God. "We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away." (Hebrews 2, 1). We also have to take care not to neglect the everlasting things in getting absorbed by the things which are temporary.
