Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 13, 14

The Christian coat

In an eastern european country a Christian gets to know an old man who had suffered a lot in his life. In order to encourage this man our friend speaks to him about the love of Jesus Christ, but the other one does not want to hear anything about Christian faith. He had been scandalized to much by the unworthy behaviour of a responsible man in religion.

- The Christian asks him: May I ask you a question? Supposed I would steal your coat, I would wear it and commit a hold-up. The police would see me fleeing but could not stop me. They have an important clue which would lead them to you: your coat. What would you say if they would accuse you of the hold-up in the bank?

- I would deny it, because my coat is not me.
- Well Jesus does not get deceived by them who are called Christians although they have nothing to do with Jesus.

This picture makes the negotiator think. A few days later he asks his visitor: "How can I become a Christian?" The Christian explains to him that he has to acknowledge his mistakes and believe in the efficiency of the work accomplished by Jesus Christ. The old man bows down and gives his life to Jesus. After that he kisses his Christian friend and tells him: "Thank you for intervening in my life." He adds by pointing his fingers to heaven: "You are really clothed with the Lord Jesus Christ."
