9th September To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. Revelation 3, 21 An unthankful war In the New Testament Christian life is described as a battle which is only finished when the believer arrives in his real homeland, heaven, in the presence of his Saviour and his God. Every fighter must know his enemy, he must know his military power, his weapons and his strategy to resist his tricks. Obviously our great ennemy is him who is called the opponent, the devil who prowls around us, Satan with his tricks. The victory which Jesus won allows us to resist him in the battles he gives us. He attacks us in our thoughts by suggesting reasonings which make us move away from the Bible teachings. He offers us everything which could tempt us and he excites our selfishness, our proud etc. There are so many daily battles where we can be victorious if we stay near the Lord and if we use God's word. He also attacks us by violence: in several countries he uses persecutions of the authorities or population. He even goes to torture and death. In order to win we need to know what we are fighting for and we have to be sure that we will receive the necessary help from our Boss Jesus Christ who himself went before us in this battle. |
