Open my eyes

The gospel and the teachings of the New Testament have been added to the "law", and the "prophets" which form the Old Testament. They multiply the marvels of God's revelation. If God does not open our eyes we would not know these marvels.

"Open my eyes". Universally, the Bible is recognized as a masterpiece of literature. Every genuine spirit recognizes the powerful interest of the history books, the everlasting poetry of the Psalms, the sublime beauty of the story of Jesus and the strength of reasoning of the apostle Paul. However, to stay here would not be beneficial. "Open eyes" are eyes of faith which discover the godly marvels.

The Bible is not only a document of man, a mirror of humanity. It is more expressive than any other literary work. It is the expression of "God who reveals himself". It shows us that he is at work in everything he has done for the creation of humanity. It communicates with us God's thoughts of man, a privileged creature who got lost and whom he wishes to save. It also tells us that the created things are not enough to make known God's holiness, his righteousness and his grace. It teaches us that he is light and love.
