Towards which eternity?

We are immortal creatures, born for eternity. Every day either brings us nearer to heaven or to hell. Salvation of our soul should be the first concern of our life on earth.

It is a big mistake to think that it is enough to improve the human being to cleanse it for everlasting life. What one needs is not a progressive development of the old nature but a new and godly life. Christ in us is this life. The difference between a man of highest morality and a Christian is not a difference of degree but of sort. A diamond can be nicer to look at than a tuft of grass but grass has life whereas the diamond doesn't have life.

To know whom we are we need a point for comparing, an example. This example can only be a perfect man, Jesus Christ. We get to know him by gazing at him in is word and we are transformed to his image in an unconscient way.

Some persons imagine that Christian life is a sad life and full of sacrifices and renouncements. This is a deep mistake! The further we advance in Christian life the more we see that it is a happy life.
