I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. Isaiah 61, 10

13th November So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. For all of you who were baptised into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Galatians 3, 24 & 27 Do you have your dress? An Iranian once invited an English man for an evening. By passing on the invitation through his servant he sent him an embroidered dress according to the country's custom. However, the English man didn't know the custom and he put the dress aside. The day of the dinner while he was on his way he met one of his compatriots and told him about the invitation. This compatriot asks him: "Did you not receive a dress?" The English man just had enough time to go back home and to correct the mistake and he received the best welcome. This story reminds us of a narrative of the Gospel: A king prepared a wedding party for his son but the invited people excused themselves one after the other. So the king who was angry told his servants to bring all them whom they would find on the way until the hall for the wedding party was full. There was only one condition to enter: to wear a wedding dress. This is why a man who did not have a wedding dress was thrown outside (Matthew 22, 1 - 13). Maybe you say: I don't have time to think about religion or even I am ready to approach God but under the condition that he takes me as I am. It is impossible! Nobody can be welcomed by God unless he fulfills the conditions which God has fixed: to be justified by faith in Jesus. |
