Birth and death

The first date is a happy day. Every year our birthday is celebrated. In some cultures the name of the baby is given according to the name of the day. For example, in Togo, depending on whether you are born on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday your name will be Kodzo, Kokou or Kofi.

On the contrary, the day of death is unknown and one prefers not to think about it. Death is the end of our life on earth. Even if for the most of us we were born in 19.. and we will die in 20.. our life will not be extended.

Are these ordinary thoughts? What is our goal? We should get more and more conscious of the importance of our short life on earth. Our soul is created to live eternally. We can have a third date which is important. This third date could be the day when we meet Jesus Christ. He speaks of this date as a day of being born again. On this day we receive God's life and this life renews our inner being. If we wish to have everlasting life we should confess our sins and believe that Jesus died for us.
