a bottle

22nd May

You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me. John 5, 39

So it is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55, 11

The bottle in the sea

There was a letter with a careful drawn plan of a sailor to his brother in it. On this sketch, a small mark located a treasure hidden in a cellar. The bottle had been thrown overboard into the Black Sea in 1843. It arrived at it's destination 125 years later.

The Bible is a little like this bottle. It has travelled around the world for nearly 2000 years for its most recent part. It also contains a message which always remains present and universal. It also enables us to discover a treasure. It is the message of God to man summed up in this verse: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whowever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life."(John 3, 16)

Has this wonderful message come to you? If so, read it with humility, perseverance and without prejudices. Ask God to help you understand it. You will see clearly to recognize secret barriers in you which prevent you from coming to God, and to find the means of being delivered from them. You will get to know him who fills the whole Bible, the Lord Jesus Christ himself. He is the only boss who is worthy to be loved and followed.
