We know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no-one will be justified. Galatians 2, 16

a soldier who became a captain because he believed in the word of the emperor

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him. John 3, 36

What is faith?

Tolsto said: "If a man does not have faith, he is in the most dangerous situation in the world". Yes, the Bible confirms this, because: "without faith, is impossible to please God" (Hebrews 11, 6).

Faith is confidence in God, very simple like the confidence of a little child. We are not born with faith. But God speaks to us, and then it is enough to say yes to the Lord who invites us: "Come to me" (Matthew 11, 28), "believe in me" (John 14, 1). Faith consists in believing what God says. It is to obey his Word and to take his promises with the word.

Napoleon spent one day in reviewing his troops when his horse bolted. A soldier jumped onto the head of the horse and stopped it in its race. - "Thank you, captain" exclaimed the emperor - "Of which regiment, lord?" asked the soldier. - "In my personal guard" he answered, amused, while moving away. At once the man approached the officers. One of them says to him: "What are you doing here?" - "I am a captain of the personal guard of the emperor." - "You are mad." - "He said it to me" - "Excuse me please, captain, I was unaware of it!"

"Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ" (Romans 10, 17). It is to believe, not only all the words of God, but to receive his Son, the Lord Jesus himself, in our heart and our life.
