sad

23rd July

You heard my plea: "Do not close your ears to my cry for relief." You came near when I called you, and you said, "Do not fear." Lamentations 3, 56 & 57

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41, 10

The friend of bad days

We wish to give some comforting words to you who have lost a loved one and are wounded in your soul, but cannot get healed from this wound. You avoid to speak to the others about your grief because you do not want to bore them. You even try to keep smiling although inside of yourself sadness remains. You should know that even if your relatives do not speak to you any more because they fear that they will be tactless or because they have forgotten, there is somebody who never forgets any past pains you have gone through. There is somebody who understands your hidden suffering because he himself cried and suffered on this earth.

Do you know him? It is Jesus, the Son of God who came from heaven to earth who was made man to establish the contact between God and his creature. Through his death on the cross he gives everlasting life to them who believe in him. He is alive and he knows you personally, he speaks to you in the gospel and he listens to you when you pray. Jesus is a sure friend and you can share everything with him. He is not beyond your sorrow. You can speak to him as often as you like; he can comfort and encourage you.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles." (2 Corinthians 1, 3 & 4)
