one angel

5th April

And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. Matthew 27, 50 - 52

The actors of the final scene (3)

The cross of Jesus is the central scene in world's history and it's consequences are universal. It also concerns the angels, heaven, earth, hell, sin, death and finally world. There everything has it's place for eternity.

The angels testify of these things and they gaze at new wonders.

Heaven, earth and hell wait on the outcome of this deed which is announced by split rocks, open tombs, shaken earth and darkened sky.

Sin and death are distant, put aside and conquered; the curtain of the temple which forbid the acces to God is torn. The empty tomb proclaims this victory.

The world gets to know it's judgement. Neither the tomb stone nor it's seal nor the watchmen can hold him back who declared: "I have overcome the world" (John 16, 33).

We can well call such a scene "the great outcome" the most official moment of history. There is a surprising entirety of actors and acts: God and Jesus, man and Satan, angels and heaven, earth and hell, sin and death, as well as the world either have their place in shame, defeat and judgement or else in justice and triumph.

Am I conscient that in any case I have my part in this deciding scene which was played about 2000 years ago? Saved or lost? Near to or far away from Jesus? This is the official stake.
