An ostrich which puts its head in the sand

14th June

When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, the hearts of the people are filled with schemes to do wrong. Ecclesiastes 8, 11

Does nobody see me?

One lends a stupid behaviour to the ostrich; in the presence of danger, it would hide its head in the sand, as if, when it does not see anybody any more, every threat were gone.

However, many human remind us of this bird. They think they can escape the looks of God, because they do not see him. These people put their fingers in their ears to be unaware of God, who through the Bible, speaks seriously, but with love and mercy to their conscience.

God will request accounts from any normally responsible individual. Don't let us believe that the divine judgement will never be exerted, only because it is postponed! The Word of God declares: "Just as man is destined to die once, after that to face judgement" (Hebrews 9, 27).

God invites us to be courageous and honest in front of him. Let us take the head out of the sand, become aware that God sees us guilty and that it is useless to hide as Adam and Eve did in the paradise. Confess your sins in front of God, believe in Jesus Christ, in his sacrifice and his love for you, then you will be saved. But to be saved, one needs to repent and to put his/her confidence in Jesus, the only Saviour.

When our sins are forgiven, what a marvellous peace we have with God: it is him who made peace and gives us it.
