One Saturday afternoon a neighbour rings at the door: "Do you know that the window of your car's door is broken?" I run outside. Everywhere there is glass.

purse

For where your treasure is, there your heart will also be. You cannot serve both God and money. Luke 12, 34 & 16, 13

The purse and the Bible

Word of God

During the day some objects of inside have just been stolen. What? I think quickly. Suddenly, I realize what has disappeared! Two things: a purse and a Bible!

I had hardly come back into the house when the bell rang again. A passer-by brought my Bible back. He had found it open a little further on on the pavement. He had read my name and my address. I was happy to get it back, however, naturally I have never seen my purse again. The Bible with it's dimensions and it's zip fastener was similar to a wallet... When the stealer realized his mistake he threw it away and kept the money.

This was his choice. This is the choice of our modern society and of our western civilization which prefers materialism and rejects God. Is this a good choice? In the gospel Jesus warned his disciples: "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth ... but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven ... because for where your treasure is, there your heart will also be ... Nobody can serve two masters" (Matthew 6, 19 - 21 & 24). What is your choice? The Bible or the purse? Think well. Your eternity depends on your choice.
