The Christian doesn't expect death; he expects to see with his eyes what at the moment he can only see by faith: Jesus in heaven's glory, Saviour and Lord.

Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5, 6 - 8

The best is in front of us

Our spirit which possesses Christ's life is in a body which Paul calls "a tent", that is a place of transition on earth, a body which will be like Christ's glorious body (Philippians 3, 21), which will allow us to gaze at the Son of God.

In the "tent" we suffer and groan; in our heavenly dwelling we will perfectly be happy, because the content, our new body will totally be adapted to our spiritual being with Christ's life. There will be a complete harmony.

However, we don't expect death but the Lord's second coming. In a twinkling of an eye he will resurrect the believers who already have died and will change the living believers into his likeness. The results of these certainties are:

- the certainty takes away fear of death which sometimes strongly frightens them who are hopeless;
- this certainty counsels us and allows us to counsel our brothers and sisters in faith when our family members who belong to the Lord leave us
- this certainty comforts us in reminding us that the best is before us;
- this certainty urges us to implore them who don't have peace with God "to be reconciled with God"!
